# Xiaomi Ends Support for 10 Popular Models: What This Means for Poco and Redmi Owners

Chinese tech giant Xiaomi has officially updated its list of devices eligible for software updates. According to the new End of Life (EOL) list, the company has ceased software updates for 10 smartphone and tablet models released under the Xiaomi, Redmi, and Poco brands. This decision affects devices that were widely popular, including in the Uzbekistan market.

### The End of the Update Era: What Will Change?

For the smartphones included in this list, the era of updates has come to an end. Owners will no longer receive new versions of the HyperOS operating system, bug fix packages, or monthly security patches. This means that the functionality of the devices will remain at the current level, but their digital protection will cease to evolve.

Experts note that the lack of regular security patches eventually makes devices more vulnerable. Personal data stored on such gadgets may become a target for cyberattacks, as new system vulnerabilities will no longer be promptly patched by developers.

### Why Did This Happen?

The situation regarding the cessation of support is directly linked to a change in the company's policy. Xiaomi is implementing an updated and expanded device support strategy starting in 2025. Since the models in question were released before these new rules came into effect, they do not fall under the guarantee of long-term updates.

The list of devices deprived of further support includes popular models such as the Poco X5 Pro. This forces owners to consider the advisability of upgrading their gadgets, especially if they actively use the smartphone for important tasks.

### Will the Smartphone Break?

It is important to understand: the cessation of software support does not mean that the device will immediately fail. Smartphones will continue to perform all their basic functions—making calls, opening apps, and working on the network. However, over time, compatibility with new versions of software may decrease, as they will require more recent system components.

In such cases, experts recommend exercising increased caution. Owners of outdated devices should be more careful when working with banking apps and entering personal data to minimize the risk of information leaks.
