## 🎯 Key Points

- Dayana Yastremska defeated Cristina Bucsa in three sets at the WTA 1000 Wuhan tournament.
- In the deciding set, the Ukrainian led 5:0 before allowing her opponent to close the gap to 5:3.
- In the next round, Yastremska will play against American Iva Jovic.

Ukrainian tennis player Dayana Yastremska successfully started her campaign at the prestigious WTA 1000 tournament in Wuhan, China, securing a hard-fought victory over Spain's Cristina Bucsa. The match turned out to be extremely emotional and eventful, keeping fans on the edge of their seats until the very last rally. The match ended in three sets with a score of 6:4, 5:7, 6:3 in favor of the Ukrainian athlete, who demonstrated both brilliant attacking tennis and unexpected lapses in concentration.

Starting the match with confidence, the Odesa native seized the initiative and took a 4:1 lead in the first set thanks to an early break. However, the Spaniard managed to narrow the gap, bringing intrigue back into the game. The end of the set featured a constant exchange of breaks, but Yastremska held her ground, maintained her crucial advantage, and closed out the set 6:4. It seemed the match favorite was in total control of the court.

### Unexpected Turn and Lost Advantages

The second set began with mirrored service troubles for both players, but the game gradually stabilized. The tennis players traded games for a long time, preventing each other from pulling away in the score. Towards the end of the set, Cristina Bucsa unleashed a powerful streak, winning three games in a row. The Spanish player claimed the set 7:5, pushing the match into a decisive third set where tension reached its absolute peak.

In the third set, Dayana Yastremska shifted gears completely, taking full control of the match proceedings. The Ukrainian effectively converted two break points on her opponent's serve and rapidly raced to a 5:0 lead, putting herself just one step away from a triumphant finish. It felt like victory was already in the bag, but the match's conclusion turned into a real nerve-wracking test for all tennis fans.

### Contradictory Data

It is worth noting certain discrepancies in how various sports media outlets interpret the status of the Spanish tennis player. Some publications emphasize that Yastremska knocked out Spain's top-ranked player, while other sources focus exclusively on the flow of the match itself and the dramatic finish of the third set without highlighting the opponent's national ranking.

Despite Bucsa's powerful comeback, where she won three consecutive games to narrow the gap to 3:5, Yastremska stopped the dangerous trend in time. The Ukrainian converted her second match point on her own serve, putting an end to this lengthy battle at 6:3. In the next round of the Wuhan tournament, Dayana will face American Iva Jovic, who received an automatic bye into the second round thanks to her seeding.
