# Zelensky Announces New Decisions for the Army Following Consultations with Fedorov and Syrsky

In Kyiv, a major review of approaches to the support and development of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is being prepared. President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that new decisions will be developed taking into account the opinions of the military and the leadership of the defense sector.

As reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing the official Telegram channel of the head of state, this step was preceded by an intensive series of consultations. On Saturday, July 18, Zelensky held lengthy negotiations with key officials, including former Minister of Defense Mykhailo Fedorov and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrsky.

### Direct connection with the front and society

The President emphasized that the adoption of updates will be facilitated by direct feedback from citizens and military personnel. "Yesterday and today there were many consultations. Of course, I hear what people are saying. I spoke at length today with Mykhailo Fedorov. I spoke today with Oleksandr Syrsky, decisions regarding the army will be worked out," Zelensky stated.

These statements were made against the backdrop of a tense political situation in the country. On Saturday, July 18, mass protest actions continued for the third day in a row in Kyiv and other cities. Citizens took to the streets demanding that the authorities review personnel decisions in the leadership of the Ministry of Defense, in particular, the dismissal of Mykhailo Fedorov.

### Reaction to protests and past mistakes

The former head of the defense department, Mykhailo Fedorov, reacted to the rallies in his support. In his address, the former minister thanked people for their hope and stated that the planned changes in the country will definitely take place. Earlier, on July 16, Fedorov made a loud statement about his activities, calling his biggest mistake in the position of head of the Ministry of Defense, which concerned the conduct of the reform of the Ukrainian army.

Thus, the changes in the army development strategy announced by the President become a response both to the requests of the command and to the public resonance surrounding personnel changes in the defense department.
