# Zelensky proposes a personal meeting with Putin to end the war: conditions and details of the proposal

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky sent a letter to Russian leader Vladimir Putin proposing a personal meeting. This was reported by RBK-Ukraine, citing the press service of the Office of the President of Ukraine. In the document, the head of the Ukrainian state outlined the conditions under which, in his opinion, the military conflict can be ended honestly and with dignity.

### Personal meeting as the key to peace

Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine is ready to discuss the end of the war directly with Russia, without intermediaries. "Ukraine proposes to end the war in a format between us and you. I propose a meeting to you," the president wrote. He noted that it is the leaders of countries who decide key issues — that has always been the case.

At the same time, Zelensky reminded that previously Russian representatives had offered him to come to Moscow, but after 26 years, the Ukrainian leader has nothing to do in the capital of the Russian Federation, just as the Russian leader has nothing to do in Kyiv. "I propose to determine a meeting point," he added.

### Security guarantees and the role of the USA

In the letter, Zelensky pointed out the need for guarantees that a new attack will not be repeated. He also drew attention to the fact that the USA is currently focusing primarily on the situation with Iran, and it is wrong to wait until Washington turns its attention to the war in Europe.

The President proposed that the monitoring of the ceasefire be provided by the United States. According to him, this is standard practice, confirmed by current circumstances surrounding Iran.

### Ceasefire and prisoner exchange

Zelensky stated that Ukraine is ready to completely cease fire during negotiations. "An attempt to establish real silence is the best start to begin talking to each other," he wrote.

Furthermore, the President confirmed his readiness for a prisoner exchange in a "all for all" format. Such a step, in his opinion, could become a "good prologue" to ending the war.

### Russia's reaction

Recall that in May, Vladimir Putin stated: if Zelensky wants to meet, he must come to Moscow. At the same time, the Russian leader is also ready for a meeting in a third country, but only in the event that final agreements on a peace deal are reached.

Thus, Zelensky's proposal for a personal meeting and conditions for a ceasefire has become a new stage in the diplomatic dialogue between Ukraine and Russia. We await the reaction of the Russian side and further steps in this direction.
