# Personal Message to Trump: Zelenskyy Warns of Catastrophic Air Defense Shortage

In the Oval Office, where history is decided in seconds, a new chapter of geopolitical drama unfolds. Volodymyr Zelenskyy has sent a direct appeal to Donald Trump—not through press releases, but personally. At the center of attention is a critical shortage of air defense systems, which has already become a matter of survival for Ukrainian infrastructure.

As confirmed by presidential adviser Dmytro Litvin, the letter is addressed to two key figures: the former US president and Congress. This is not just a diplomatic formality—it is an alarm signal issued against the backdrop of escalating Russian attacks and public threats from the Kremlin against Kyiv.

### "We Rely Almost Exclusively on the US"

In the text of the message, Zelenskyy emphasizes that protection from ballistic missiles is a responsibility that Ukraine cannot ensure on its own. "We rely on our friends. In the matter of protection from ballistic missiles—almost exclusively on the United States," writes the Ukrainian leader.

Current delivery rates under the PURL (Presidential Drawdown Request) program no longer match the scale of the threat. Russia is using increasingly complex and massive strikes, and weather conditions, which it takes into account when planning, reduce the effectiveness of even existing air defense systems.

### Patriots Against Terror

Zelenskyy directly asks for the continuation of US participation in the process of defending the Ukrainian sky: "I, on behalf of the Ukrainian people, respectfully ask the President and Congress of the United States to continue participation in this process. And help us provide this vital tool of protection from Russian terror—Patriot PAC-3 missiles and additional systems—to stop Russian ballistic missiles and other missile attacks by the RF".

The photo of the letter, published by Axios journalist Barak Ravid, has become a symbol of the tension of the moment. In the photo—two leaders standing face to face, as if discussing the fate of an entire region. Behind them are flags, paintings, symbols of power... But off-camera are the real consequences of every decision.

### What's Next?

Parallel to diplomatic efforts, Ukraine is developing its own solutions. Co-chairman of Fire Point, Denys Shtilerman, reported that tests of a new air defense system—a cheaper analog of Patriot—could begin by the end of the year. However, as experts note, guaranteeing a 100% interception of combined strikes is currently impossible.

This is not just a request for help—it is a call to action. In conditions where every second counts, Zelenskyy is betting on personal communication with Trump, knowing that it is his influence that can change the course of events. And while the world watches, Ukraine waits for an answer—not only from Washington, but from history itself.
