# Zelensky: Trump and Europe Want Peace, But Putin Refuses to Negotiate

In an interview with Fox News, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky identified the main reason for the prolongation of the conflict: the lack of willingness on the part of the Russian leadership to engage in dialogue. According to the Ukrainian leader, both the US administration and European partners are focused on ending hostilities, however, Vladimir Putin refuses to even discuss a temporary ceasefire.

### The Problem Lies in the Refusal to Dialogue

Zelensky emphasized that Kyiv calls for negotiations every day, even if it is only about a temporary cessation of fire to create conditions for diplomats. "We want to stop this war. President Trump wants to stop this war, and Europeans want to stop it. Putin — no. We ask every day for negotiations, at least about a ceasefire for some period of time and to give diplomats the opportunity to negotiate. But Putin does not want this. This is the problem," stated the head of the Ukrainian state.

It is precisely this refusal, according to Zelensky, that dictates the need for a tough stance and increased pressure. Ukraine is counting on new sanction measures, in particular the implementation of the bill by the late Senator Lindsey Graham, which provides for unprecedented restrictions on Russia.

### Visit to the US and Prospects for Diplomacy

Zelensky's visit to Washington, where he met with Donald Trump, became a key stage in discussing the future peace process. The leaders discussed not only security issues, including a license for the production of Patriot interceptor missiles on Ukrainian territory, but also possible scenarios for resolving the conflict.

According to RBC-Ukraine, in the coming weeks, special representatives of Donald Trump — Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner — may arrive in Kyiv. The main topic of their visit will be finding diplomatic ways to end the war.

### Graham's Sanctions: A Step Towards Peace

On the night after the meeting with Trump, Zelensky held talks with US senators. As a result of the discussion, lawmakers voted for a procedural decision that opens the way for consideration of Lindsey Graham's package of "hellish sanctions" against Russia. Zelensky called this step an important move towards peace.

It is expected that the Senate will try to approve the document before the August recess. However, the final decision will require another vote in the House of Representatives, which will return to work in September.
