"Ukraine critically needs interceptor missiles for Patriots. We all know: our partners have them. What is needed now is the political will to provide them," Zelenskyy stated. He noted that this is not just about military equipment, but about the daily protection of human lives. The appeal was addressed primarily to the American side, and the head of state linked it to the US Independence Day holiday. According to Zelenskyy, now America, together with the free world, has the opportunity to help Ukraine preserve its independence from Russian aggression. ### The reality of the air war The president's words are backed by fresh data on a large-scale attack that took place in the night of July 2. During this period, Russia launched a combined strike on Ukrainian territory, making the capital, Kyiv, the main target. As a result of the attack, significant destruction and damage to infrastructure were recorded in the city. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the enemy launched a colossal number of munitions at the country β€” 570 missiles. Ukrainian air defense demonstrated high efficiency, destroying or suppressing 524 targets. However, the statistics reveal a worrying trend: the majority of unsuppressed targets were Iskander-M ballistic missiles and Zircon anti-ship missiles. It is these high-tech munitions that broke through the defense in large numbers. Zelenskyy summarized his position with a demand that Patriot systems never be left without ammunition. "Help make it so that our air defense... never remains without the missiles they need.
