# Zelenskyy on meeting with Trump: Air defense, missile licenses and 'winter package' for Ukraine

Behind the scenes of the G7 summit in France, a key bilateral meeting took place between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US leader Donald Trump. The Ukrainian leader revealed details of the conversation, noting that the main topic was strengthening national security and concrete steps to enhance the country's defense.

### Strengthening air defense and missile production

According to Zelenskyy, the conversation with Trump covered Ukraine's critically important needs in the field of air defense. The President emphasized that the American side recognized the need for assistance in this matter.

"We talked about what Ukraine needs. Everyone recognizes that air defense is needed, everyone will help. Absolutely all SIMC will work to strengthen our defense," Zelenskyy stated.

Particular attention was paid to technological cooperation. Ukrainian and American teams intend to work out the issue of obtaining licenses for the production of anti-ballistic systems and missiles directly on Ukrainian territory.

### Sanctions and G7 position

During the summit, G7 leaders unanimously confirmed their support for Ukraine and condemned recent Russian strikes on civilian infrastructure. Zelenskyy noted that partners do not see Moscow's readiness to end the conflict.

"Everyone believes that in any case, the war must be stopped. Everyone believes that they do not see a desire from Russia. First of all, Putin does not want to finish, but he must be forced to," the President emphasized.

To achieve this goal, partners support increased sanctions pressure, in particular, the introduction of new measures against Russia's so-called "shadow fleet".

### "Winter package" and infrastructure restoration

A separate item on the agenda was preparation for the next heating season. Zelenskyy presented partners with the so-called "winter package", which includes:

- additional support for the energy sector;

- fuel supplies;

- protection of critical infrastructure.

Canada, Japan, Germany and other countries expressed support for the implementation of this plan. In addition, France promised assistance in restoring the protective sarcophagus at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant after drone attacks, and Switzerland will join the work to restore objects of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.

### European integration

Summit participants also confirmed their support for Ukraine's course on joining the European Union. Partners considered the opening of negotiation clusters a fair step and currently do not see obstacles to further progress towards membership.

Recall that earlier Zelenskyy stated that he proposed a meeting with Vladimir Putin behind the scenes of the summit to discuss ways to peace, but the Russian side showed no interest in this.
