Ukraine is facing an unprecedented level of aggression from the Russian armed forces. In the past week, enemy troops have attacked 16 regions of the country, using a colossal amount of ammunition. According to figures announced by President Volodymyr Zelensky, approximately 1,900 unmanned aerial vehicles, nearly 1,600 guided aerial bombs, and 144 missiles of various types were used during these strikes.
Damage and Infrastructure Loss
The consequences of the mass strikes proved catastrophic. As a result of the attacks, more than 1,500 objects were damaged in just one week. Among the destruction are hundreds of residential buildings, which threatens the safety of the civilian population and exacerbates the humanitarian situation in frontline and remote regions.
Air Defense and Ballistic Missile Challenges
Particular concern is raised by the effectiveness of Ukrainian air defense systems under conditions of a saturated attack. Zelensky recalled the events of the night of August 1st, when Ukrainian air forces managed to shoot down only one of the 27 ballistic missiles launched by Russian troops. This figure demonstrates the growing complexity of intercepting high-precision munitions.
Increase in Russian Weapons Production
The head of state noted that Russia is redirecting significant resources to increase the production of ballistic missiles. At the same time, Zelensky emphasized the critical vulnerability of the sanctions regime: a significant part of Russian enterprises engaged in the production of components for drones, missiles, and guided aerial bombs are still not under international sanctions.
In this regard, the President called on Western partners to increase pressure on all links of the Russian military-industrial complex to deprive Moscow of the ability to maintain the current pace of escalation.
