Last night, Ukraine was subjected to a large-scale air attack. The Russian side deployed an unprecedented number of unmanned aerial vehicles in an attempt to breach the air defense system. According to Ukrainian defenders, 58 strike UAVs of various types were used during the attack.
Details of the Air Assault
The enemy's arsenal included not only standard kamikaze drones but also more complex systems. Among the objects attacked were:
- Reactive UAVs of the Shahed type;
- "Gerbera" and "Italmas" drones;
- "Banderyol" loitering munitions;
- "Parody" type imitation drones.
The attack was carried out from several directions simultaneously, creating a threat to the north, south, and east of the country. The exact origins of the drone flights were established with high precision. The main launch points were the territories of the Kursk and Oryol regions of the Russian Federation, as well as occupied regions — Donetsk, Guardyanskoye (Volnovakha district), and Crimea.
Effectiveness of Air Defense
Ukraine's air defense systems operated in a state of heightened readiness. As of 08:00 in the morning, the destruction of 46 enemy unmanned aerial vehicles was recorded. This means that more than 80% of the launched devices were shot down before reaching their targets. However, despite the high interception efficiency, some drones still managed to break through.
The press service of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed that 8 strike UAVs reached their targets, striking 7 different locations. Exact details of the destruction and the consequences of the strikes are still being clarified, but the fact of the enemy's hit on the country's territory is confirmed.
Consequences and Current Situation
The attack was not limited to the night hours. Ukrainian defenders warn that the airspace remains unsafe: "The attack continues, there are enemy UAVs in the airspace. Observe safety rules!".
The consequences of the strikes have already become evident in several regions. In Sumy, a large-scale fire started due to a drone hit, and information about casualties has already reached the media. There were also reports of damage in Mykolaiv, where two gas stations were damaged as a result of the attack.
Experts note a worrying trend in the actions of the Russian side. It has become known that in July, Russia launched more ballistic missiles at Ukraine than it managed to produce during the same period. This indicates that the enemy is spending strategic reserves in an attempt to suppress Ukraine's defense, without the ability to replenish losses at the rates necessary to maintain such intensity of shelling.
