Editorial Policy

Our principles

  • Accuracy over speed. We publish fast, but a fact without a source is not a fact to us.
  • Sources in plain sight. Every story links to the original source and to the outlets we checked it against.
  • News apart from opinion. Commentary and editorial positions appear only in the Opinions section and are labelled as such.
  • Independence. We do not take money for news content. Advertising is always labelled as partner content.
  • Respect for readers. No clickbait, no fear-mongering, no hate speech.

How we verify

  • For every story, independent sources are found and cross-checked; links to them appear in the “Verified by sources” block.
  • Stories where sources conflict or facts are in doubt are never published automatically: the editor-in-chief reviews them first.
  • Numbers, dates, names and quotes are checked against the original source. If something is unconfirmed, we say so.

“Accounts differ”

When parties to a conflict, government agencies or companies give different numbers and different versions, we don’t pick the convenient one. Below the story you will see an “Accounts differ” block: who claims what, with a link to the source of each version, and where the versions agree.

The block appears only when the sources really disagree. We never invent “the other side” and never present propaganda talking points as facts.

Corrections

Everyone makes mistakes. If you spot an inaccuracy, write to [email protected] with a link to the story. We will check it and correct the text. We do not hide significant corrections.

Photos and illustrations

We use photos from original and official sources and credit the photographer when known. For analysis and cover images we use illustrations created by the newsroom. If you are the author of a photo and want credit or removal, write to [email protected] — we resolve requests within 24 hours.
