The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU), together with the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP), has exposed the activities of an organized group. The suspects are accused of embezzling state funds from the National Guard of Ukraine (NGU) totaling over 150 million UAH. According to the investigation materials, the illegally appropriated assets were used to purchase elite real estate and expensive vehicles.

A key episode of the investigation was the procurement procedure for a logistics complex intended for storing food supplies for the NGU. According to law enforcement agencies, in 2024, officials of the Main Directorate of the NGU conspired with representatives of commercial entities. The property was initially registered to a controlled private enterprise and then resold to the department with an artificially inflated price of more than 143 million UAH. To give the transaction a semblance of legality, independent appraisers were hired to prepare false reports.

In addition to theft during the warehouse purchase, investigative actions cover other episodes of state procurement of material and technical resources for military units. In particular, this concerns the supply of autonomous energy sources — solar power plants, where the estimated cost was inflated. The purchase of sets of specialized tires for armored personnel carriers at inflated rates is also mentioned. The total damage from these episodes exceeded 7 million UAH.

During investigative actions, law enforcement officers seized cash amounting to $340,000 and approximately €100,000. In addition, a lien was placed on real estate objects purchased by the suspects: a two-story apartment in Kyiv and apartments in the Bukovel resort area, as well as on vehicles.

At the moment, eight individuals have been officially notified of suspicion: three officials of the Main Directorate of the NGU, three entrepreneurs, and two expert appraisers. The actions of the suspects are qualified under Part 5 of Article 191 (embezzlement or misappropriation of property in especially large amounts) and Part 3 of Article 209 (legalization of income obtained by criminal means) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The Main Directorate of the National Guard of Ukraine has published an official statement regarding this incident. The department confirmed that the employees mentioned in the case materials have been suspended from performing their official duties for the period of procedural actions. The NGU emphasized full cooperation with the investigative authorities and announced the appointment of an internal service investigation to establish the causes and conditions that contributed to the offense.

We remind you that according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court's guilty verdict.
