Kyiv is about to undergo significant changes in its public transport tariff policy. Local authorities have officially approved an increase in the cost of a single ride to 30 hryvnias. The new fare will take effect as early as Wednesday, July 15, although this decision will not affect the entire transport fleet of the capital.
What will get more expensive from mid-July
The decision to raise prices concerns exclusively municipal transport, which is under the jurisdiction of city services. According to data published on the "Kyivpavtrans" website, the new cost of 30 hryvnias will be set for the following modes of transport:
- City buses serving 94 routes;
- Trams operating on 16 routes;
- Trolleybuses, numbering 42 routes.

Situation with private carriers
In addition to municipal transport, private carriers are actively operating in the city. At the moment, they have not announced an increase in their service costs. This means that passengers using the services of non-state companies can still count on the previous tariffs.
However, the legislation provides for a strict procedure for private players: if carriers decide to review prices upwards, they are obliged to notify local authorities of their intentions at least a week before the new tariffs come into force. This will allow passengers to learn about possible changes in the cost of travel in advance.
