The Ukrainian government has adopted a number of important decisions aimed at strengthening social support for the most vulnerable categories of citizens. The Cabinet of Ministers has not only extended the deadlines for payments to facilities accommodating IDPs without documents but has also allocated significant funds to provide housing for family-type children's homes.

Extension of compensation deadlines for IDPs

One of the key decisions was to extend the deadline for providing compensation to institutions that accommodate internally displaced persons (IDPs). This measure concerns those who lost their documents as a result of hostilities. As Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko noted, the government is aware of the complexity of the situation and strives to support those who found themselves in the most vulnerable position.

Previously, on June 1, 2026, the deadline for submitting applications for housing assistance for certain categories of IDPs expired. Many may have missed the opportunity to receive payments for previous months, especially children and non-working citizens who needed to act quickly.

833 million hryvnias for housing for family-type children's homes

In parallel, the Government approved the procedure and conditions for providing subventions from the state budget to provide housing for family-type children's homes (FTCH). The State Budget for 2026 allocates 833 million hryvnias for these purposes.

Financial assistance will be directed primarily to support the most vulnerable categories of families. Priority in the distribution of funds will be given to families that:

  • were forced to evacuate due to the war;
  • completely lost their own home;
  • are currently returning to Ukraine from abroad.

New stage of the "eReconstruction" program

Since May 1, 2026, a new stage of the state program "eReconstruction" has started in Ukraine, intended for internally displaced persons whose real estate remains on temporarily occupied territories.

In particular, Ukrainian defenders with the status of UBD and persons with disabilities due to the war have received the opportunity to reserve funds for the purchase of new housing through the "Diia" app. The government has allocated 6.6 billion hryvnias to finance this component, which will allow housing to be provided for about 3,300 families.

The amount of one housing voucher is 2 million hryvnias, and it can be used within 5 years. This decision opens up new opportunities for those who have lost their homes as a result of military actions and need a stable place to live.

What does this mean for citizens?

The adopted measures demonstrate the state's desire to adapt the social support system to current realities. Extending compensation deadlines, allocating funds for housing for family-type children's homes, and launching a new stage of the "eReconstruction" program — all this is aimed at helping people who find themselves in a difficult life situation.

For those who have not yet taken the opportunity to receive assistance, it is important to carefully monitor official sources of information and act quickly so as not to miss the chance of receiving support.
