Ukraine has officially launched the acceptance of applications for financial support for veterans who have been granted Group I or II disability as a result of vision loss. The initiative aims to help participants in hostilities adapt to life in new conditions and create a safe living environment.
Program details and payment deadlines
According to RBC-Ukraine, citing a statement by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, funds for the implementation of the project are provided with the support of the International Committee of the Red Cross. Payments will be made to the recipients' special accounts from August 1 to October 30, 2026.
The maximum amount of financial assistance is 95,000 UAH. An additional amount of up to 2,000 UAH is provided to cover associated banking services. It is important to note that this support is provided regardless of whether the veteran receives other types of social benefits.
What the funds can be used for
The purpose of the assistance is to create a comfortable and safe household. Veterans can purchase equipment from an approved list, which includes 26 items. The choice of specific devices is left to the applicant.
The list of permitted goods includes specialized adaptive gadgets and household appliances necessary for the daily lives of people with visual impairments. The program allows for a flexible approach to solving the household tasks of each individual.
How to apply
Document acceptance has already begun. To receive support, you must contact the structural unit responsible for veteran policy issues. The place of application depends on the applicant's status:
- For most citizens — at the place of official registration.
- For internally displaced persons (IDPs) — at the actual place of residence.
The government announced the launch of this support program back in May, and now the mechanism has begun its operation, opening up opportunities to improve the quality of life for veterans with serious health limitations.
