The night of May 29 was fateful for the village of Mashevo in the Chernihiv region. In the darkness, while the world slept, Russian aggression reminded itself once again. Enemy drones of the "Geran" type struck a peaceful settlement, turning an ordinary school evening into a nightmare.
The target of the attack was the local school building. The impact of the munition instantly caused a powerful fire. The fire, raging, left no chance for the building to be saved. As Alexander Selivestov, head of the Novhorod-Siverskyi district military administration, reported, the school building burned down completely. Not only the building itself was destroyed in the fire, but also all the property inside.
The situation remains tense. Although the scale of destruction is obvious, the final results of the damage assessment are still being clarified. Fortunately, at the moment, there is no information about casualties among the village residents. This is the only consolation in a tragic situation when infrastructure intended for children comes under attack.
The attack on Mashevo is just part of the overall picture of the occupiers' outrages that night. Russian military also attempted to attack a vessel sailing from the ports of the Odesa region to Turkey, which resulted in injuries to crew members. In addition, Zaporizhzhia came under attack: as a result of shelling, residential buildings were damaged, and there are casualties.
The destruction of the school in the Chernihiv region is not just combat statistics. It is a blow to the future, to the opportunity to receive education, and to the very idea of peaceful life that aggressors are trying to destroy.
