The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are betting on technological sovereignty and abandoning outdated systems. The Commander-in-Chief of the AFU, Oleksandr Syrskyi, has approved a new Concept for the Development of Missile Troops and Artillery, which defines the development vector of the Ukrainian army until 2030. The document provides for large-scale modernization, a transition to domestic production, and the creation of strike complexes to hit targets in the deep rear of the enemy.
The End of the Era of Soviet Calibers
The central point of the new strategy is the abandonment of outdated Soviet heritage. Oleksandr Syrskyi stated that the basis of the armament of Ukrainian artillerymen in the future should be weapons of domestic production. In this regard, a gradual withdrawal from operation of worn-out artillery systems of Soviet calibers, which cannot be effectively repaired or modernized, is planned.
However, this does not mean a complete rejection of foreign equipment. Units armed with modern artillery systems of Western production will remain in the troops. The Commander-in-Chief emphasized that the range of armaments will be optimized for maximum effectiveness on the battlefield.
Missile Response up to 2000 Kilometers
Special attention in the document is paid to the development of missile armaments. The creation of a balanced system of long-range fire impact is declared a strategic priority. Ukraine plans to complete the development and launch into serial production its own ballistic and cruise missiles.
Syrskyi noted that in combination with unmanned systems, new missiles will allow hitting targets at a distance of up to 2000 kilometers. This solution is designed to provide strike power capable of reaching objects in the deep rear of the enemy.
Technological Breakthrough and Reconnaissance
Despite the rapid development of drones and guided aerial bombs, artillery remains an integral element of modern warfare. The Commander-in-Chief of the AFU acknowledged that the effectiveness of artillery today directly depends on the quality of reconnaissance and the speed of data transmission. This is why one of the key priorities of the Concept became the creation of a modern artillery reconnaissance system.
Alongside plans for missiles, Ukrainian engineers are advancing in the creation of other types of high-precision weapons. The Minister of Digital Transformation, Mykhailo Fedorov, reported on the completion of the development of the first Ukrainian glide bomb "Leveler". The warhead of this product weighs about 250 kg, and its main task is to hit targets deep in the enemy's defense.
Balance of Losses and Victories
The development of a new military doctrine is taking place against the backdrop of an active phase of hostilities. Oleksandr Syrskyi previously reported that in May, the Defense Forces liberated 100 square kilometers more territory than they lost. In addition, Ukrainian military personnel struck objects of the Russian military-industrial complex in Moscow and the Moscow region for the first time, demonstrating growing capabilities for long-range strikes.
Looking to the Future
Oleksandr Syrskyi emphasized that while waging a difficult war today, Ukraine is simultaneously forming the army of the future. The implementation of new technologies and preparation for future challenges are no less important than fulfilling current combat tasks. The Commander-in-Chief assured that artillery, under any conditions, will continue to effectively destroy the enemy and remain one of the main factors of deterring aggression.
