The admission campaign to vocational education institutions has officially opened in Ukraine. This year, college doors are open not only to graduates of 9th and 11th grades but also to adults planning to change their field of activity or master a new profession.
Selection without NMT: how to enter vocational schools
The main difference between admission to vocational educational institutions and universities is the absence of the mandatory National Multisubject Test (NMT). Selection conditions are determined by each institution independently. Applicants should focus on the requirements of a specific college: most often, this involves passing an interview or taking entrance exams.
Special requirements for those liable for military service
An additional rule applies to applicants who are registered for military service. A copy of the military record document must be attached to the application package. This may be a military ID, a temporary certificate, or a certificate of registration with a conscription district.
Duration of studies and financial support
The duration of study in vocational colleges is flexible and depends on several factors: the chosen specialty, the applicant's level of basic education, and their existing qualifications. A course can last from 6 months to 3 years.
The state provides support for students. They have access to dormitory accommodation and scholarship payments. The minimum scholarship amount for this academic year starts from 1250 UAH.
System reboot and the influence of business
This year, vocational education is set for a major transformation. Colleges have announced updates to curricula and modernization of the technical base. This will allow for the training of specialists who are more in demand in the modern labor market.
Furthermore, a decision was previously made to create supervisory boards at all higher vocational and vocational-technical education institutions. Their composition will include representatives of business and employers, which should ensure direct control over the quality of personnel training by the industry.
