Ukraine is entering a period of extremely high temperatures. As early as today, June 27, the country is expected to experience hot weather formed by the influence of an anticyclone. According to synoptic Natalia Didenko, the heat wave coming from Western Europe will gradually shift eastward, covering new territories.

Temperature map: where it will be hottest

The most noticeable heating is forecast in the western regions of the country. During the day, the air temperature here will rise to +30...+35 degrees. In the rest of Ukraine, the figures will be somewhat more moderate — in the range of +26 to +29 degrees.

The capital will also not be spared from the heat. In Kyiv, significant precipitation is unlikely, and the air temperature will tend towards +29 degrees.

Danger of thunderstorms and rain

Despite the predominance of clear weather, synoptics warn of the risk of local precipitation. Short-term thunderstorms are most likely in the eastern regions, as well as in the central part of Ukraine. However, precipitation is not expected over most of the territory.

Forecast for the weekend and the beginning of the week

The heat is not going to recede in the near future. On Sunday, June 28, in most regions of the country, the temperature will be +29...+34 degrees, and in the west, the thermometer columns may show +33...+37 degrees.

The peak of the temperature regime is expected on Monday. It is in the western regions of the country that the temperature may reach critical values — up to +33…+38 degrees.

According to preliminary data, a weakening of the heat and a decrease in temperature can be expected approximately from July 2.

European context

The situation in Ukraine is developing against the backdrop of a large-scale anomaly covering a significant part of Europe. In neighboring countries, the temperature has already approached +40 degrees, which forces authorities to introduce emergency measures. Synoptics compare the current situation with one of the most tragic weather events in modern history.

Earlier, the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center had already warned about the approaching "African heat" and pointed out the areas where the temperature could reach +40 degrees. Against the backdrop of these forecasts, Ukrainians are advised to take precautionary measures and avoid being in the open sun during peak hours.
