Transportation restrictions have been introduced in four districts of Kyiv. The decision was made by law enforcement agencies due to the aftermath of a massive attack that occurred in the night of June 15. Several streets in the Solomyanskyi, Obolonskyi, Pecherskyi, and Desnyanskyi districts of the capital have been temporarily blocked.
Alexey Biloshitsky, the First Deputy Head of the Patrol Police Department, urged drivers in his Telegram channel to take these changes into account when planning their trips. Restrictions have been introduced to ensure safety and allow unimpeded passage for emergency vehicles.
Changes in Public Transport Operations
The city transport company "Kyivpasazhtrans" reported forced changes in the operation of surface transport. The cause was damage to the overhead contact lines and the blocking of traffic on several streets.
Specifically, the routes of trolleybuses and buses have been temporarily changed. Buses No. 24 and No. 25 are currently operating only up to Glory Square. Passengers are advised to check current information about transport movement before leaving home.
Scale of the Night Attack
On the night of June 15, Kyiv was subjected to a large-scale combined attack. According to sources, anti-ship "Zircon" missiles, ballistic and cruise missiles, as well as strike drones, were flying over the capital.
The most serious consequences were recorded in the Obolonskyi district. There were mass fires that engulfed cars, residential buildings, and warehouses. As a result of a direct hit, a nine-story residential building was damaged, construction was damaged, and smoke was detected in the stairwells.
Among the damaged objects is the historic Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. A direct hit led to a fire on the roof of the main temple of the monastery — the Dormition Cathedral.
Strikes on Cultural and Logistics Objects
The Dovzhenko Film Studio — one of the oldest in Ukraine — was damaged as a result of the attack. The strike led to the destruction of a unique collection of costumes stored on the studio grounds.
The largest and most modern sorting terminal of "Nova Poshta" in Kyiv was also destroyed. This dealt a serious blow to the city's logistics infrastructure.
The full picture of the consequences of the attack continues to be clarified. Law enforcement agencies and utility services are working to restore infrastructure and eliminate the consequences of the strikes.
