A serious deterioration in air quality has been recorded in three cities of the Kyiv region. According to the regional military administration, the cause of the pollution was an increased concentration of fine dust that entered the atmosphere as a result of recent emergency events and shelling in the region.

Where air pollution was recorded

Automated monitoring posts recorded excess permissible levels of fine dust in Vyshhorod, Vasylkiv, and Obukhiv. Experts note that prolonged exposure to such pollution in the open air can cause breathing discomfort, especially among vulnerable populations—children, the elderly, and people with chronic respiratory diseases.

Recommendations of specialized agencies

Due to the deteriorating environmental situation, specialized agencies recommend that residents of the affected cities refrain from long walks outside, keep windows and vents closed, and carry out wet cleaning indoors. In other settlements of the Kyiv region, no excess norms of chemical or biological substances were detected, and the radiation background remains within normal limits.

Contradictory data

It is worth noting that discrepancies have arisen in the information space regarding the exact number of affected settlements. Thus, official reports from the Kyiv RMA and most news outlets report three cities (Vyshhorod, Vasylkiv, Obukhiv), while some regional media and alternative monitoring agencies, citing their own sources, claim there are four affected cities, including additional suburbs of the capital.

State of monitoring and general situation

Today, environmental monitoring of atmospheric air in the region is carried out using fifteen specialized observation posts. At the same time, the post in Bila Tserkva is temporarily non-functional due to technical malfunctions. The situation is under the control of specialized services, which continue to monitor changes in environmental indicators around the clock.
