Ammonia Threat in Dnipro: Consequences of the Morning Russian Attack and Rescue Operations

The morning attack by Russian forces on Dnipro resulted in damage to critical infrastructure. As a result of a strike on one of the city's industrial enterprises, an ammonia pipeline was damaged. The situation required immediate intervention by emergency response forces.

Operational Elimination of the Accident

According to the press service of the State Emergency Service (SES), rescuers acted as quickly as possible. The units managed to promptly eliminate the consequences of the accident, preventing the development of a dangerous situation.

Specialists closed all valves on the tanks, which allowed them to completely stop the ammonia leak. At present, there is no threat to the civilian population. SES employees continue to monitor the gas concentration in the air, keeping the situation under strict surveillance.

Scale of the Night Attack

The incident in Dnipro occurred in the context of a massive strike delivered by Russian forces on the night of July 27. According to authorities, the attack affected several regions of Ukraine, however, the most significant damage was inflicted on the Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, and Dnipropetrovsk regions.

In Dnipro, in addition to the ammonia incident, the following consequences of the shelling were recorded:

• Fire on the territory of a private residence;
• Damage to windows in several multi-story residential buildings as a result of the blast wave;
• Damage to vehicles and a store building.

Air Defense Operations and Data Clarification

Ukraine's air defense systems operated in standard mode. 15 Russian unmanned aerial vehicles were shot down in various districts of the Dnipropetrovsk region. Data on possible casualties in Dnipro is currently being clarified.

This is not the first case of an attack on infrastructure objects in the region. Just a few days prior, on July 24, a Russian drone attacked a passenger train locomotive in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Thanks to the prompt actions of railway workers and the timely evacuation of passengers, the incident resulted in no casualties or injuries.
