Ukrainian designer and stylist Andrei Tan published a breakdown of 2026 fashion trends, listing the items and styling tricks that, in his view, no longer match the season's current proportions and mood. The article, based on his Instagram video, is published by Styler — an entertainment project of RBC-Ukraine. Four categories are in focus: the color palette, denim silhouettes, accessories, and footwear. At the same time, the designer immediately clarifies that this is not about bans: you can keep wearing these items if you like them, but he does not recommend calling them the main trend of 2026.
Beige minimalism and "quiet luxury" are fading into the background
First on Andrei Tan's list are looks built exclusively on neutral beige tones. The designer clarifies that this is not about a love of muted shades as such, but about situations where the entire outfit consists of pieces in the same mood: a beige top, beige bottoms, a beige bag, and minimal accents. "A beige top, beige bottoms, a beige bag, and no emotion at all," the designer described such a look. In his words, the era of so-called "quiet luxury" has made such outfits look too similar to one another, so in 2026 he recommends not being afraid to add more character to your look.
Skinny jeans are no longer a wardrobe staple
The second point, which will probably spark the most debate, is very tight jeans. Andrei Tan stated outright that skinny jeans have long ceased to be the main foundation of a modern wardrobe. This does not mean you need to throw them away in a hurry: the designer noted that you can keep wearing them if you like them. However, in his view, it is not worth calling skinny jeans the main trend of 2026. Instead of tight silhouettes, straight, relaxed, wide-leg, and other looser options will look more modern, as they give the outfit current proportions and allow for relaxed ensembles.
Jewelry should be louder
Another trend that, according to the designer, has faded into the background is overly delicate jewelry. This refers to thin chains, small earrings, and minimalist accessories that barely draw attention. Andrei Tan believes that in 2026 jewelry should be a striking part of the look, not a barely noticeable addition. Therefore, he advises paying attention to chunky earrings, large bracelets, necklaces, and accessories with structured shapes. This approach works well even with simple clothing: a statement necklace or large earrings can make a basic outfit noticeably more interesting without the need to add many other details.
Footwear: comfort and style are not always the same thing
The fourth item on the list is platform wedge footwear. The designer understands why women continue to choose such shoes: they are comfortable, add height, and may seem more practical than a thin heel. But Andrei Tan emphasizes that comfort and relevance are not always the same thing. "Comfortable is wonderful. But comfortable and stylish are not always the same thing," he noted. Instead of chunky platforms, the designer suggests paying attention to kitten heels, modern ballet flats, mules, or elegant pumps, which will help preserve the femininity of the look while making it more current.
Personal choice matters more than trend status
It is important that Andrei Tan does not call for literally getting rid of every item on his list. This is especially true of skinny jeans, which many women have worn for years. The designer specifically addressed those who are not ready to give up their favorite model: if you like skinny jeans, keep wearing them. However, personal preferences should be separated from an item's status as the season's main trend. Thus, his recommendations should be viewed not as a strict rulebook, but as a guide to which proportions, textures, and accents will look freshest in 2026.
