Anthropic has officially unveiled a new family of artificial intelligence called Fable 5. Behind this development lies the story of a secret defense project, access to which was previously limited to a select few tech giants and government agencies.
The Legacy of the Secret Project Glasswing
The new neural network is based on the algorithms of the Mythos system, created within the framework of the closed defense project Project Glasswing. Until today, access to these technologies was restricted to a narrow circle of specialists from Apple, NVIDIA, and the White House administration. Initially, the system was developed to protect software from large-scale cyberattacks.
Now, Anthropic has adapted these military developments for civilian use, creating a model that has demonstrated absolute superiority over competitors in tests. Fable 5 has outperformed not only the company's previous flagship, Opus 4.8, but also the latest developments from OpenAI (GPT-5.5) and Google (Gemini 3.1 Pro).
Perfect Computer Vision and Programming
The key advantage of the new model is its "perfect" computer vision. Unlike its predecessors, Fable 5 is capable of recognizing complex scientific graphs and minute interface details in real time. The neural network sees every change on the screen, opening new horizons for task automation.
Of particular interest is the programming-by-image function. The algorithm can fully recreate the source code of a web application or website based solely on a few ordinary screenshots. Furthermore, the model demonstrates growing efficiency when analyzing large and complex documents: the more complex the task, the greater Fable 5's lead over older services.
Test Drive in Pokémon FireRed
To visually demonstrate the capabilities of visual analysis, developers conducted an experiment forcing the AI to play the cult game Pokémon FireRed. The system handled the task without using text hints or built-in navigation tools, relying solely on the analysis of the visual data stream.
Strict Security Filters and Mythos 5 Version
Due to the excessive power of the model, developers had to implement strict security protocols. If a user asks questions on sensitive or potentially dangerous topics, the system automatically redirects the request to the weaker Opus 4.8 model. Currently, the protection algorithms operate in "conservative" mode, leading to erroneous blocking in approximately 5% of sessions with completely harmless requests.
Alongside Fable 5, the Mythos 5 version has been announced. This neural network lacks civilian safety restrictions and is capable of designing new drugs and chemical compounds. Access to it will be provided exclusively to vetted corporations under a special trust program.
Access Conditions and Pricing
For regular users and Claude service subscribers, access to Fable 5 will be completely free until June 22. After this date, the company will introduce per-minute billing for used tokens. Developers promise that once the servers can handle the load, the model will return to standard pricing plans without additional surcharges.
