Anthropic has completed a major update to its flagship AI assistant Claude, bringing previously separate work tools together into a single environment. The standard chat, the Cowork agentic mode, the Claude Design module, and the Artifacts feature no longer exist as isolated tabs: the company has integrated them into a unified interface to make everyday work with artificial intelligence easier. According to the developers, the goal of the update is to eliminate the need to switch between modes for each specific task and to give users direct access to generating and editing full-fledged work materials within a single conversation.
A unified interface instead of separate modules
The key change was removing the barrier between modes. Previously, materials created in separate modules could not be transferred between tabs, which made complex, multi-part tasks difficult: users had to copy results from one window to another. Now the assistant can produce analytical briefs and text reports directly within the chat window, while visual content — slides — is generated right in the conversation without switching to a separate Claude Design module. Users can edit elements of the created materials and export them to familiar formats.
Claude Docs and Claude Slides: work documents in the conversation
The update introduced two new features — Claude Docs and Claude Slides. For text materials, this means the assistant prepares documents that are private by default, but they can be shared via a link for collaboration, edited on mobile devices, and freely exported to Google Docs or Microsoft Word formats. A similar approach is applied to presentations: on request, the AI creates slides directly in the conversation, allows users to edit their elements, and exports the final result to PowerPoint or PDF. The process can be started on the desktop, while progress can be tracked and adjustments made through the mobile app.
Updated memory layer for the Cowork mode
An important technical element of the update is the refined memory layer of the Cowork mode. The service now retains conversation context, has access to connected data sources, and can simultaneously analyze information, draft text, and build slides within a single session. This turns Claude from a set of separate utilities into a coherent working environment, where the output of one step is automatically available for the next — especially important for analytics and the preparation of complex materials.
Phased rollout and availability
The rollout of the new interface has already begun for Pro and Max plan subscribers on the web version, desktop, and mobile platforms. According to the company, free-tier users and Team corporate packages will gain access to the updated functionality in the near future. Thus, Anthropic is rolling out the update in stages, first testing it on the paid segments of its audience. The change affects not only the user experience but also the logic of working with AI in professional scenarios, where context continuity and quick access to ready-made documents and presentations matter.
