Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has confirmed that the case concerning the assassination attempt on Ukrainian businessman Vadym Ermolaev in Monaco is under the state's close attention. The Head of State told journalists that in the coming days he will hear additional reports on the progress of the investigation and will definitely inform the public about the results obtained.
Details of the Explosion in an Elite District
The tragedy unfolded on the evening of June 29, around 21:00, in the prestigious residential district of Monaco — Le Rocher. A perpetrator left a booby-trapped bag at the entrance to the house where the businessman was located and fled. The subsequent powerful explosion led to severe consequences: Vadym Ermolaev sustained extremely serious injuries, his companion was hospitalized in critical condition, and the businessman's 13-year-old son suffered less dangerous injuries.
Judicial Investigation and Arrests
Immediately after the incident, Monaco's judicial authorities launched a large-scale criminal investigation. During the inquiry, Ukrainian citizen Anastasia Berezovskaya was named as the main suspect in organizing the assassination attempt. Later, law enforcement agencies confirmed the discovery of Berezovskaya's body in the outskirts of Kyiv.
The situation received a resonant continuation: two men have already been notified of suspicion in the murder of Anastasia Berezovskaya. Among those detained are a current employee of the Main Directorate of Intelligence (GUR), Vladyslav Reut, and a former SBU employee, Vitaly Zhikovych. At present, both figures are in custody.
