Well-known Ukrainian singer Assia Ahat has spoken candidly about how her life has changed following the start of the full-scale invasion. The artist admitted that in recent years she has been living a nomadic lifestyle, dividing her time between the United States and her native Ukraine. According to her, this schedule has become a familiar reality to which she has adapted in order to maintain family ties and creative activity.

The Rhythm of Life Between the US and Ukraine

At 61, Assia Ahat tries to visit her homeland regularly. The artist shared that she comes to Ukraine approximately every month and a half to two months. She owns a house in Kyiv located in a picturesque area near the Motherland Monument. The singer spends half the year overseas and the remaining six months on Ukrainian soil, where her close friends, relatives, and familiar social circle remain despite all the challenges of wartime.

Where the Husband Is and Creative Plans

In the interview, the singer paid special attention to rumors regarding her husband, businessman Ihor Balenko, whom she married in 2000. Ahat categorically denied information that her husband had allegedly moved to the US. According to the artist, Ihor Balenko continues to live and work in Ukraine, ensuring the family's financial stability. The singer herself plans to travel abroad again in the near future, but intends to return home in December. At the same time, she does not yet dare to launch a large-scale nationwide tour due to security concerns, although she continues to work actively in the studio on new compositions, including those in Ukrainian.

Contradictory Data

Discussions periodically arise in the media space regarding the degree of involvement of Ukrainian artists in local cultural life during the war if they reside abroad for extended periods. While some sources focus on the American period of Assia Ahat's life and her frequent flights, the singer herself insists on constant integration into Ukrainian realities, regular visits every few months, and her husband's ongoing presence in Kyiv, creating a multi-faceted portrait of contemporary Ukrainian artists' lives.
