On the night of June 11, the Krasnodar Krai became the scene of a new large-scale attack. According to eyewitnesses and local sources, the strike targeted the Afipsk Oil Refinery (NPP). A powerful fire broke out at the scene, accompanied by loud explosions and thick black columns of smoke rising into the sky.

Chronology of Events: From Sirens to Fire

Events unfolded rapidly. Eyewitnesses filming the incident captured the alarming sounds of sirens, followed by powerful explosions. Visually, the footage shows not only a bright flash but also characteristic black smoke, indicating the ignition of oil or petroleum product tanks.

Although the region officially announced the operation of air defense systems and the threat of drones, local public pages and Telegram channels are proposing a different version. Experts, analyzing the nature of the explosions and the intensity of the fire, suggest that the attack may involve not only unmanned aerial vehicles but also a missile strike.

Government Response and Attack Context

At this time, the official channel of the Governor of Krasnodar Krai, Veniamin Kondratyev, contains no comments regarding the incident. However, local Telegram channels have already disseminated information about air raids and explosions in the immediate vicinity of the refinery.

The security situation has intensified across the country during this period. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin reported in his Telegram channel about the interception of aerial targets in the capital. There were also reports of a drone attack on Crimea, where, according to unconfirmed data, a fire occurred in Simferopol.

Afipsk Refinery: A Strategic Target

The attack on the Afipsk Refinery is by no means an isolated incident. The plant, located in the settlement of Afipsk, 20 km from Krasnodar, regularly becomes the target of enemy strikes. According to media reports, the enterprise was subjected to drone and missile attacks in November and December of last year, as well as in March 2026.

The enterprise belongs to the Safmar group of Russian businessman Mikhail Gutseriev. It is one of the largest refineries in Russia with an annual processing capacity of about 6.25 million tons of oil. The plant produces a wide range of products: gasoline, diesel fuel, fuel oil, and other petroleum products.

The strategic importance of the Afipsk Refinery is hard to overestimate. Since the beginning of the full-scale war, it has become a key element of the logistics chain, supplying fuel to both the civilian economy and military needs. Precisely because of its importance for southern Russia, the plant is constantly in the enemy's sights.
