Large-scale rescue operations are continuing in Kyiv following an attack that occurred on the morning of July 2. According to the latest data, the death toll from the tragedy has reached 13 people, while the number of injured has risen to 86. Among those injured are two children.
The situation in the capital was addressed by Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko and Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko. The enemy struck residential districts, resulting in direct hits on at least 20 residential buildings. In total, approximately one hundred buildings sustained damage.
Rescuers searching for people under the rubble
Employees of the State Emergency Service (SES) are working at 15 locations. The main task of the rescuers is to clear the rubble and search for people who may be trapped under the ruins. Yulia Sviridenko emphasized that people may still be trapped under the debris of destroyed houses.
Particular attention is being paid to the Darnytskyi district, where a partial collapse of a multi-story building occurred. An active search and rescue operation is currently underway there. In the Pechersk district, rescuers have already managed to pull a person out from under the rubble.
Destruction in the center and fires
The strikes were not limited to residential areas. A medical facility and a hotel in the center of Kyiv were damaged. Due to falling building debris, medical staff sustained injuries. Fires have engulfed the roofs of several multi-story buildings in various districts of the capital.
The SES has released footage of the aftermath of the attack, demonstrating the scale of fires and destruction in seven districts of the city. Work to restore order and assist the victims continues around the clock.
