On the morning of August 12, 2026, the Kyiv region was once again struck by Russian armed forces. In particular, infrastructure facilities in the Brovary district were damaged. Preliminary data suggests that the enemy used attack unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) to strike warehouse facilities.
Course of events and consequences of the attack
Official confirmation of the incident came from Timur Tkachenko, Head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration. At 10:49, he reported that fires had broken out in warehouse buildings as a result of the attack. Unfortunately, the incident was not without casualties among the civilian population. Tkachenko clarified that a 65-year-old man sustained shrapnel injuries. The injured man was promptly hospitalized and is receiving necessary medical assistance.
Victoria Ruban, Press Secretary of the State Emergency Service (SES) in the Kyiv region, confirmed the information about the fires in a comment to RBC-Ukraine. "Warehouse facilities are burning in the Brovary district following the Russian attack," she noted. Currently, the SES is not reporting other destruction or casualties, although rescue operations are ongoing.
Rescue operations and Air Defense
Personnel and resources of the State Emergency Service were dispatched to the scene. As seen in operational footage, rescuers in full gear have begun extinguishing the fire. The air raid alert remains in effect in the area of the emergency. The Head of the Regional Military Administration urged all residents to stay in safe places and follow safety rules during air raids.
Ukrainian air defense forces continue to repel enemy attempts to breach the defense. Earlier reports stated that on the night of August 12, Ukrainian air defense intercepted several targets in the sky over Kyiv and surrounding regions, although some drones managed to break through to ground targets.
Contradictory data
There is a discrepancy in the interpretation of the attack targets between Ukrainian and Russian sources. Ukrainian authorities report an attack on warehouse facilities in the Brovary district, without specifying their exact purpose (civilian or military objects).
At the same time, Russian sources, in particular the publication "Federal News Agency" (fedpress.ru), cite statements from the Russian Ministry of Defense claiming that massive strikes were carried out against warehouses and logistics centers in Kyiv. The Russian side positions these facilities as military infrastructure. The Ukrainian side has not yet commented on this aspect, focusing on the fact of the territory being hit and the injury of a civilian.
Situation in the region
Currently, the air raid alert in the Kyiv region is still in effect. More detailed information regarding the scale of damage and the cause of the fire will be provided after the completion of rescue services' work and an assessment of the situation on the ground. Residents of the region are advised to follow official statements from the authorities.
