Ukraine's energy infrastructure has once again become the target of a massive attack by Russia. Key gas production facilities in the Poltava and Kharkiv regions were hit. Information about the incident came from the Chairman of the Board of the State Enterprise 'Naftogaz of Ukraine', Serhiy Koretsky.
Scale of the Attack and Weapons Used
According to the company's head, over the past two days, Russian forces have launched at least four ballistic missiles at 'Naftogaz' facilities. The enemy's arsenal also included cluster munition missiles and strike unmanned aerial vehicles. The attack targeted production facilities responsible for gas extraction and transportation.
Serhiy Koretsky confirmed the presence of damage and noted that specialists are currently assessing the consequences of the strikes. The situation on the ground requires detailed analysis to determine the scope of restoration work.
Human Factor: Casualties Avoided
Special attention in the statement by the head of 'Naftogaz' was paid to personnel safety. As a result of one of the shelling incidents, a shift bus carrying workers from a production facility was damaged. Fortunately, thanks to systematic safety measures, casualties and injuries among the company's employees were avoided.
Systemic Nature of Attacks on the Energy Sector
Events of recent days confirm Russia's course on the systematic destruction of Ukraine's energy infrastructure. Attacks on the fuel and energy complex continue in other regions of the country.
Thus, on June 24, fuel filling complexes of the state company 'Ukrnafta' in the Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, and Dnipropetrovsk regions were hit by Russian drones. In addition, the company's production facilities in the Poltava region were attacked.
As a result of one of the attacks on a fuel filling complex, a worker of the filling complex suffered serious injuries. Significant damage was recorded at gas production and gas storage facilities, which indicates the high intensity and accuracy of strikes on critical infrastructure.
