Stéphane Thibaud, the Prosecutor General of Monaco, commented on the progress of the investigation into the attempted assassination of Ukrainian oligarch Vadym Ermolaev, which occurred on June 29 in the upscale Le Rocher district. According to the official, at this stage, none of the theories regarding the attack is considered a priority.

No Single Theory is Priority

During a briefing, Stéphane Thibaud emphasized that the investigation cannot identify a dominant hypothesis regarding either the origin of the explosives or the motives behind the crime. "No theory is currently a priority," stated the Prosecutor General, noting the complexity and multifaceted nature of the case.

Although the Ukrainian aspect of the investigation was not detailed, Thibaud reported holding a lengthy video conference with his counterpart in Kyiv. This indicates close international cooperation within the framework of the case.

Criminal Qualification and International Cooperation

The case is currently classified under three charges: "attempted murder," "placing an explosive device in a public place with criminal intent," and "criminal organization." However, as the prosecutor noted, the qualification may be reviewed after receiving additional materials from Ukraine and other countries involved in the investigation.

To accelerate information exchange, Thibaud announced an operational meeting to formalize requests for international legal assistance. This will ensure the rapid circulation of documents between jurisdictions.

Circumstances of the Attempt and the Suspect's Identity

The attempt on Vadym Ermolaev's life occurred in the evening of June 29 around 21:00. The perpetrator left a boomed bag at the entrance to a residential building and then left the scene. Initially, the investigation focused on a male suspect, but it was later revealed that the suspect is a woman, approximately 30 years old, who was posing as a man.

According to Interpol, the main suspect is Anastasiia Berezovska, a Ukrainian citizen who has been placed on an international wanted list. Details of her involvement in the incident continue to be clarified within the framework of international cooperation.
