The Ukraine national football team is preparing for a crucial match in the UEFA Nations League group stage, where they will face a tough Northern Ireland side. This nominally home game is of paramount importance for the coaching staff's wards, as the winner of the clash will take sole leadership in Group B2. Both teams display organized football and approach their head-to-head meeting with completely equal tournament statistics.

Date, Time, and Venue of the Match

The match between Ukraine and Northern Ireland is scheduled for October 2, 2026, and will be held at a neutral venue in Slovakia. The opening whistle at the Anton Malatinský Stadium in Trnava will blow at 21:45 Kyiv time. The match will be officiated by a qualified Belgian refereeing crew led by main referee Jasper Vergoote, with Jan Boterberg in charge of the VAR system.

Tournament Standings and Squad Situation

After the first two rounds of the group stage, both national teams have recorded four points each without conceding a single goal. The Ukrainians narrowly defeated Hungary and played a scoreless draw, while the Northern Irish dealt with Georgia. Personnel losses affect both sides: the Ukrainian team was left without the injured Vitaliy Mykolenko, and the guests from Northern Ireland flew to Slovakia without a number of key players, including defender Daniel Ballard.

Head-to-Head History

The upcoming meeting in Trnava will be the seventh in the history of official and friendly confrontations between these national teams. Statistics of previous matches favor the Ukrainian team, which has won three victories with two draws and one defeat. However, the only misfire is extremely painful for Ukrainian fans — a 0-2 defeat in the group stage of the 2016 European Championship in France.

Where to Watch Live Broadcast

Fans will be able to follow the action live thanks to official broadcasters. The game will be available on the MEGOGO OTT platform with appropriate subscriptions, as well as for free on the MEGOGO SPORT TV channel, which broadcasts in the T2 digital network and cable networks. The traditional pre-match analytical studio will begin one hour before the starting whistle — at 20:30 Kyiv time.
