BC Volyn from Lutsk has officially announced the signing of 25-year-old American forward Taj Twiat. According to Sport RBC.UA, citing the team's official Instagram page, playing for the Lutsk squad will mark the import's professional debut. Thus, the club has locked in yet another foreign player ahead of the start of the new Superleague season.
Four Years in the NCAA and His Stats at Coppin State
Before moving to Ukraine, Twiat spent four seasons in the US collegiate league (NCAA), and last season he suited up for Coppin State. According to the source, the 25-year-old forward played in 23 games, averaging 6.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 0.7 steals per game. These numbers characterize him as a defensive-minded player with an emphasis on rebounding and steals, which was likely the key argument in the coaching staff's decision to select him.
Rebranding and Roster Strengthening
During the current offseason, the Lutsk team underwent significant changes: in particular, the club changed its name — from "Staryi Lutsk" to BC Volyn. In the new squad, the American basketball player will wear the number 8 jersey. Earlier, the roster was already bolstered by forward Maksym Nykytin, who transferred from "Kharkiv Sokols," and American point guard Brian Starr, indicating a deliberate club policy to refresh and strengthen the lineup ahead of the new tournament.
