A tragic event has occurred in Romania, once again raising the issue of human safety in areas inhabited by large predators. The police of Sibiu County confirmed the death of a local resident who became a victim of an attack by a wild animal.
Tragedy in Transylvania
The events unfolded in the commune of Hogilag, near the village of Prod. On June 6, Romanian media reported the discovery of the body of a 34-year-old man. According to preliminary data from law enforcement agencies, the cause of death was severe injuries inflicted by a bear.
Medical personnel who examined the body confirmed that the injuries were incompatible with life and were consistent with a predatory attack. The police have already launched an investigation into the incident to reconstruct the full picture of what happened and establish the exact circumstances of the man's death.
Lack of control strategy
The incident has caused a stir among local authorities. The mayor of the commune of Hogilag, Nicolae Lazăr, commented on the situation, pointing to a systemic problem: there is indeed a significant number of bears in this area, and local authorities do not have the resources to control their range.
According to the mayor, there is currently no long-term strategy for managing the population of these animals. In this regard, he demanded immediate intervention by the central authorities to resolve the issue and prevent the recurrence of such tragedies.
