Belarus has issued an ultimatum to Ukraine: any unauthorized crossing of the common border or aggressive actions will result in an immediate and severe response. This was stated by Igor Sekreta, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, in an interview with Russian media, published by RBC-Ukraine.
«Red Lines» and the Threat of Using All Potential
During the conversation, Igor Sekreta did not resort to diplomatic euphemisms, clearly outlining Minsk's position. According to him, the Ukrainian side is fully aware of what awaits in the event of a violation of territorial integrity. «If the border is, so to speak, crossed without permission or in an aggressive manner, we will respond using all our potential and all our capabilities,» emphasized the Belarusian diplomat.
Sekreta also drew attention to the existence of so-called «red lines». According to him, these boundaries of responsibility were clearly defined by the President of Belarus: «This is our border». The diplomat added that Western countries must also understand: any attack on the «Union State» (RB and RF) will lead to serious consequences and an instant reaction.
Militarization of the Border Region and Infrastructure Changes
The words of Belarusian officials are backed up by actions on the ground. Alongside diplomatic statements, Minsk is actively strengthening its positions along the Ukrainian border. RBC-Ukraine previously reported that work is underway in border areas to build fortifications and equip facilities jointly with Russian military personnel.
Particular attention is being paid not only to physical protection but also to electronic warfare. In particular, the impact of turning off repeaters on the Belarusian side on communication coverage in border regions of Ukraine is being discussed. Experts note that this could significantly complicate the actions of Ukrainian forces:
- Turning off repeaters will deprive the ability to control drones in real-time via internet connection.
- Drone attacks will be forced to be carried out exclusively using pre-programmed GPS coordinates, which reduces the flexibility and accuracy of strikes.
Thus, Minsk is demonstrating readiness for escalation, combining verbal threats with real strengthening of defensive and technical capabilities at the border.
