Lisbon's Benfica has stepped up its efforts to determine the future of Ukrainian goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin. According to the McQueen Infos portal, as cited by Sport RBC.UA, the management of the Portuguese giant is keen to settle the status of the 25-year-old Ukraine international goalkeeper before the summer transfer window closes.
Two offers on the table, but neither has been accepted
Benfica currently has two official offers for Trubin's transfer on the table. However, according to the source, neither of them fully meets the financial or sporting demands of the Lisbon club. That is why the deal is not yet close to being concluded, and negotiations could drag on until the final days of the transfer window.
Change of coach stripped the Ukrainian of his number-one status
The key reason for a possible departure was the change of head coach. After the appointment of Mark Silva, the manager placed his faith in 24-year-old Portuguese Samuel Soares, who started the last five matches. In the new coach's eyes, Soares' main advantage was his more confident play with his feet — a critically important element for building Benfica's attacks. As a result, Trubin lost his status as the undisputed number one.
