With the onset of the resort season in Odessa, the appearance of the law enforcement service on the coast has changed. The traditional summer bicycle patrol, designed to ensure the safety of vacationers from Langeron to Arkadia, began its work on June 1. This year, 18 police officers got behind the handlebars of bicycles to patrol key recreation areas.

The season began with a solemn assembly and briefing, after which the inspectors took up their routes. The area of responsibility of the bicycle patrol covers three main locations: Shevchenko Park and Langeron Beach, the famous Health Trail, and the resort of Arkadia. It is in these places that the concentration of tourists and cyclists reaches its peak, which requires special attention from law enforcement officers.

Alla Marchenko, a spokesperson for the patrol police of the Odessa region, emphasized that the tasks of the inspectors go beyond simple public order protection. The most important direction of work has become traffic monitoring. Special attention is paid to the roundabout in Arkadia, where drivers often park in violation, creating congestion. In addition, employees control the movement of scooters, scooters and bicycles on the coast and bike paths.

An important aspect of the bicycle patrol's activities is the readiness to provide first aid. Inspectors have taken special courses to effectively respond to heatstroke or water accidents. This allows them to act faster than car crews, especially in conditions of dense traffic.

Service in the bicycle patrol is voluntary. This year, it was formed from the number of school police officers, since educational institutions are closed for the summer holidays. This decision allowed to involve young employees, for whom a bicycle is part of the lifestyle, without weakening the existing car and pedestrian crews on the streets of the city.

For young men and women, this is a great opportunity to combine the pleasant with the useful, continuing to serve during the summer holidays. This approach demonstrates the flexibility of the police department in organizing work and adapting to the seasonal features of the resort region.
