On June 3, the Dnipro district of Dnipro became the target of a large-scale attack by Russian forces. As a result of a direct hit by an unmanned aerial vehicle, one of the region's key logistics facilities — the distribution center of the ATB supermarket chain — was completely destroyed.

Scale of the disaster

The area of the destroyed building was 37,500 square meters. According to Serhiy Demchenko, Head of Corporate Communications at ATB Corporation, the facility is currently non-operational. Experts and company employees are continuing to assess the final material losses, but it is already clear that the damages amount to hundreds of millions of hryvnias.

As a result of the strikes delivered on the afternoon of June 3, large-scale fires broke out. More than 100 rescuers and nearly 50 units of equipment were involved in extinguishing the fire. The fire raged for over a day. It was fully extinguished only by 12:50 on June 4.

Impact on goods supply

The destroyed logistics center played a critically important role in supplying the population. It handled the delivery of food products and essential goods to approximately 300 stores of the chain located in the Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions.

The company has already begun an emergency restructuring of logistics routes. Serhiy Demchenko assured that work on redistributing supply chains is being carried out in the shortest possible time. The main goal is to ensure the uninterrupted operation of stores and prevent shortages of goods on the shelves.

Human factor

Despite the extensive destruction and the intensity of the fire, there were no casualties among the employees of the distribution center. At the time of the attack, the staff was in shelter. As an ATB representative noted, at the moment, only the consequences of the building's destruction and damage to the products stored inside have been recorded.

According to the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, eight people were injured during the attacks on the district on June 3. The incident became one of the most serious blows to the city's infrastructure in recent times.
