Blow to logistics: Red Cross warehouse with humanitarian aid destroyed in Kyiv

A major incident has occurred in Kyiv, dealing a serious blow to the capital's humanitarian infrastructure. As a result of a massive attack by Russian forces, a leased warehouse of the Ukrainian Red Cross was completely destroyed. According to the organization, key stocks necessary for emergency response to disasters were burned in the fire.

Loss of key stocks

According to information published on the official Facebook page of the Ukrainian Red Cross, the destroyed facility was one of the main logistics centers. It was from here that support for the population was carried out within the framework of various humanitarian projects. At the time of the strike, the site stored cargo intended to help hundreds of thousands of people from the most vulnerable categories.

The losses were colossal: more than 320,000 units of important cargo and equipment were destroyed. In addition, a truck directly involved in distributing humanitarian aid was damaged during the shelling. The total value of the lost resources exceeds 79 million hryvnias.

Blow to the aid system

Representatives of the organization emphasize that the consequences of the incident go far beyond material damage. "The destruction of the warehouse dealt a blow to the humanitarian infrastructure, on the functioning of which depends the timely assistance to thousands of people affected by the war," the Ukrainian Red Cross noted. The destruction of the logistics center jeopardizes the speed of delivering aid to those who need it most.

Context of the attack on the capital

The destruction of the warehouse took place against the backdrop of one of the largest combined strikes on Ukraine carried out by Russian forces in the night of July 2. During the attack, 570 air weapons were launched: 74 missiles and 496 drones. The main target was Kyiv, where air defense forces shot down 524 targets.

Despite the work of the air defense, damage was recorded in more than 30 locations in the capital. More than 20 people were killed, the number of injured reached 100, including children. The heaviest consequences were recorded in the Darnytskyi district, where a residential building collapsed. Due to the tragic events, July 3 was declared a Day of Mourning in Kyiv.
