In the night of August 5, the capital of Ukraine was subjected to a massive missile attack. One of the main targets of the attack was a logistics hub belonging to the country's largest courier operator. As a result of the strike on the 'Nova Poshta' sorting center in Kyiv, three people were killed and eight were injured.
Course of the tragedy and use of prohibited weapons
According to the company's press service, the Russian side used cluster munitions to strike a civilian object. Representatives of 'Nova Poshta' called these actions a war crime against the civilian population. Photos from the scene demonstrate the scale of destruction: the sorting center building partially collapsed, traces of fire and the work of rescue services are visible on the site.
Casualties and injured
Among the deceased are two drivers of a partner carrier and one employee of a contracting organization. Eight people sustained injuries of varying degrees of severity. Currently, experts are assessing the full extent of the damage inflicted on the enterprise's infrastructure.
Consequences for customers and service operations
Despite the critical damage to one of the key logistics nodes, the company has decided to fully compensate customers for the cost of damaged shipments. "Despite another attack, 'Nova Poshta' continues to operate throughout Ukraine," the press service emphasized.
The company noted that over the years of the full-scale war, a resilient operational system has been built, allowing for the maintenance of continuity of work even in extreme conditions. Operations in other regions continue, and logistics chains are being reconfigured to minimize disruptions.

The destruction of the sorting center was part of a massive wave of strikes on the capital. In the night of August 5, rockets and drones hit more than seven locations in the Holosiivskyi, Obolonskyi, Desnyanskyi, and Sviatoshynskyi districts.
In addition to the logistics hub, residential areas and warehouse facilities were damaged. An ammonia leak was recorded in the Holosiivskyi district, which was subsequently contained. According to preliminary data, one person was killed and more than 20 were injured in the city as a result of the night attack.
