Prices for basic food items have been updated again in Ukrainian retail chains. As of Thursday, July 2, RBC-Ukraine conducted a comparative price analysis in popular supermarkets. The results showed that the situation on the shelves is uneven: while some areas show stability, others are experiencing significant fluctuations.
Baked goods: Silpo takes the lead
In the bread category, which experienced noticeable fluctuations in June, relative stability has prevailed this week. However, even in this calm segment, significant differences between chains have emerged. The Silpo chain stands out clearly: half a loaf of bread here costs significantly less than the most affordable offers from competitors. Meanwhile, in other retail outlets, prices for baked goods have remained at the level of Wednesday, July 1, without sharp spikes.
Eggs and dairy: calm after the storm
The situation with chicken eggs has also stabilized compared to the beginning of the week. If prices could change daily before, on July 2 the market is demonstrating calmness. A similar picture is observed in the dairy and butter segments. Chains have left price tags unchanged compared to the previous day. Special attention should be paid to the ATB chain, where a reduced price on its own brand of butter continues to be in effect. This offer was a result of the June drop in the product's cost, when the price fell to 53.13 UAH.
Buckwheat: the price spread is staggering
Experts recorded the largest difference in food prices in the cereal segment, specifically buckwheat. As of July 2, the price per kilogram of buckwheat groats in different supermarkets can differ by several times. Silpo once again takes the lead in affordability, where the cost of the cereal remains minimal compared to competitors. Consumers planning to buy buckwheat should carefully compare price tags, as the savings can be substantial.
