On Tuesday, June 23, an event occurred in Crimea capable of radically changing the logistical situation on the peninsula. Ukrainian Special Operations Forces officially confirmed the complete destruction of the railway bridge over the North Crimean Canal. This message, which appeared on social media, confirmed large-scale strikes on the region's infrastructure.
Official Confirmation of Destruction
Information about the elimination of the object came from representatives of the Special Operations Forces. In their statement, they did not resort to ambiguous formulations, reporting the fact directly and categorically: "Sorry, but we have an official urgent here: the railway bridge over the North Crimean Canal in Crimea no longer exists." Earlier, on June 19, this same bridge in the Armenian area had already sustained critical damage, but this time the object was completely destroyed.
Strikes on Logistics Chains
The destruction of the bridge became part of a series of coordinated actions by Ukrainian units. On the same day, June 23, the Main Directorate of Intelligence (GUR) carried out an operation in the temporarily occupied territory of the Zaporizhzhia region. The target of the strike was trucks supplying Russian troops through the so-called land corridor to Crimea. These actions demonstrate a systematic approach to disrupting the enemy's logistics.
Consequences for Infrastructure and Population
The situation on the peninsula remains tense. Due to accidents in the energy networks caused by strikes, strict electricity outage schedules were introduced in Crimea. Residents of several cities and districts were left without light and water supply. On the night of June 21, explosions were heard in various districts of the region, leading to a temporary suspension of traffic on the Kerch Bridge. Witnesses in the area of the seaport recorded a large fire, over which thick black smoke was rising.
Scale of the Operation
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy later reported details of the night operation, emphasizing its complexity and range. According to him, Ukrainian forces struck targets on both sides of the Kerch Bridge. The distance from the front line to these objects is about 300 kilometers. The elimination of the railway bridge over the North Crimean Canal became one of the key results of this series of attacks aimed at isolating the peninsula.
