An important American delegation is expected to arrive in the Ukrainian capital. The Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, officially confirmed that US President's envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner will visit Kyiv in the near future. He made this statement during a speech at the international forum "Architecture of Security".
Official Confirmation and Preparation
According to Budanov, information about the upcoming visit is not a secret. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy already announced official details about the arrival of the American delegation several days ago. The Head of the Office of the President emphasized that all parties are currently actively preparing for this meeting.
"All I can say is that I confirm all of this, and we are all preparing for this meeting," noted Budanov, commenting on the rumors and expectations surrounding the visit.
Diplomats' Route: Kyiv and Moscow
The delegation's route is of particular interest. Budanov added that the envoys confirmed their plans to visit not only the Ukrainian capital but also Moscow. This indicates the US intention to continue playing the role of a mediator in the dialogue between the conflicting parties.
The visit will be a significant event, as earlier this year Witkoff and Kushner had already visited Moscow several times for negotiations, but had never been to Kyiv. In late May, Moscow announced their return, although specific dates were not given at that time.
Conditions for Successful Negotiations
Budanov viewed the upcoming visit as proof that the negotiation process is continuing. However, he warned that the success of diplomatic efforts depends on the position of both sides of the conflict.
"The effectiveness of it depends on all participants in this process. Here we have both our and the Russian position. Unfortunately, such issues cannot be resolved unilaterally. Otherwise, perhaps we would have done this long ago," emphasized the Head of the Office of the President.
The situation is complicated by the fact that, according to The New York Times, the Kremlin may have grown tired of frequent visits by American mediators. The Russian side, according to some reports, is interested in moving to a more stable format of dialogue, which could affect the dynamics of the upcoming meetings.
