Ukrainian society has expressed unequivocal support for personnel changes in the country's top military ranks. According to the results of a recent poll conducted by the Rating Group agency, the majority of citizens approve of Alexander Syrskyi's resignation from the post of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Public Opinion Figures

The study, conducted on July 20–21, 2026, showed interesting dynamics. The poll was completed even before President Volodymyr Zelenskyy officially signed the decree on Syrskyi's dismissal. Nevertheless, 55% of respondents stated that they support this resignation.

Only 15% of poll participants opposed the change in command. A significant portion of society, amounting to 19%, remained indifferent to the issue, while 11% found it difficult to answer.

Trust Rating and Personal Comments

In the context of these events, it is worth noting the current trust rating for Alexander Syrskyi. According to sociologists, he holds the sixth position with a rating of 23%.

The former Commander-in-Chief commented on his resignation for the first time on the morning of July 22. In his statement, he emphasized that the change of position would not alter his commitment to defending the country. Syrskyi reminded that he had dedicated the last 12 years of his life to the front and the fight against occupiers.

Separately, the general focused on the combat achievements under his leadership. According to him, this year the troops managed to liberate 700 square kilometers of territory.

Passing the Baton

Syrskyi addressed his successor, Mykhailo Drapatyi, with the hope for the continuation of offensive operations. He handed over command of the army, which, in his assessment, is in a state of offense and possesses a structure capable of destroying the enemy.

"I am handing over to my successor an army that is not only holding the defense but is also in a state of offense — with initiative, with structure, with people who know how to destroy the enemy. And I sincerely hope that this offense will be continued," the former commander-in-chief stated.

New Leadership

Earlier, it became known that on July 21, President Zelenskyy officially announced Syrskyi's dismissal and the appointment of Mykhailo Drapatyi to this position. As part of this personnel reorganization, the head of state also offered a new position to Fedorov.
