Telegram channels dedicated to traffic across the Chongar Bridge have reported that the checkpoint is open in both directions for passenger cars. This information came from subscribers of the "Chongar Checkpoint Chat" community, which regularly monitors the situation at the border between the occupied part of the Kherson region and annexed Crimea.
Traffic resumed: what is known about vehicle passage
According to open-source data, passage is currently permitted not only for passenger cars but also for empty trucks. Reports also indicate that special cargo and vehicles carrying perishable goods are being allowed through. This may indicate an attempt to restore logistical chains following recent attacks on the region's infrastructure.
Ukrainian Armed Forces attacks: consequences for logistics
On June 13, the Ukrainian military announced successful strikes on key logistical nodes of the Russian army in southern Ukraine and Crimea. Targets included facilities in the Chongar and Henichesk areas — including truck parking at the checkpoint, a pontoon crossing, and a railway bridge near Henichesk.
Vladimir Saldo, the head of the occupied part of the Kherson region, confirmed drone attacks on trucks in Novovladimirovka, Razdolnoye, and Chaplinka. A fuel tanker caught fire in Skandovka, and two fuel tanks were damaged in Maryanovka. Additionally, he reported damage to the bridge deck over the Promoina strait on the Henichesk – Strelkovoye highway and the destruction of the railway bridge in Chongar.
Official stance of authorities and independent verification
Russian authorities of the occupied Kherson territory and Crimea have not officially commented on the possibility of crossing Chongar following the attacks. The Crimea.Realities editorial team cannot independently verify the information due to ongoing hostilities in the region. However, it is known that the Armed Forces of Ukraine regularly strike military cargo and logistical routes leading to Crimea.
