In the area of the settlement of Chonhar, which connects the occupied part of the Kherson region with Crimea, another serious incident has occurred. Vladimir Saldo, the head of the region appointed by Russia, reported that the bridge was damaged as a result of a Ukrainian attack. Traffic on it has been completely blocked.
Traffic Halted, Drivers Advised to Detour
Saldo urged drivers to use alternative routes — via Armenian and Perekop. This is not the first attack on the facility: the last strike on the bridge was carried out on the night of June 7. On June 8, Saldo stated that traffic had been restored in reversible mode, and repair work would be completed "in the shortest possible time." However, the situation has now repeated itself.
More Than 20 Drones Shot Down on Approach
According to Saldo, more than 20 unmanned aerial vehicles were shot down on their approach to the bridge. He emphasized that without the actions of fire groups and air defense forces, the consequences could have been significantly more serious. "The enemy is concentrating strikes on this object to disrupt movement and create problems for people," he wrote.
Strategic Importance of the Bridge
The bridge in Chonhar crosses the Chonhar Strait and is one of the key land routes, including for supplying the Russian army. Its damage directly affects logistics in the region.
Ukrainian Intelligence Controls Highways
As late as the end of May, the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported that sections of the highway between the occupied Berdyansk, Melitopol, and Dzhankoi are "under fire control by operators of Ukrainian military intelligence." Videos of burning fuel tankers, trucks, and trawlers were published — evidence of the effectiveness of such operations.
The situation around the Chonhar bridge remains tense. Repeated attacks indicate the strategic importance of the facility and the determination of the parties to influence the enemy's logistics chains.
