June 2026 in the church calendar of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU) is rich with significant events that will serve as a spiritual guide for the faithful. On the first day of summer — June 1 — the Church commemorates the Holy Spirit and venerates Saint Agapitus of the Kiev Caves. This saint, who lived in the 11th century, is said to have healed people through prayer and herbs, making his veneration particularly meaningful for those seeking spiritual and physical support.

Throughout the month, several other key dates will follow, each carrying its own spiritual significance and requiring special attention from the parishioners.

June 5: Transfer of the Relics of Prince Igor

June 5 marks the commemoration of the Righteous Prince Igor, who ruled Chernihiv and Kyiv. His name is linked to the history of the Ukrainian land, and the transfer of his relics symbolizes the connection between the past and the present, between faith and the historical memory of the people.

June 7: Sunday of All Saints and the Beginning of the Apostles' Fast

On the first Sunday after Pentecost — June 7 — the faithful celebrate the Sunday of All Saints. This is also the day of preparation before the Apostles' Fast (Peter's Fast) — the second most significant long-term fast of the year after Great Lent. The fast begins immediately after this day and continues until the feast of Saints Peter and Paul.

June 11: Commemoration of the Apostles and Saint Luke

On June 11, the Church honors the apostles Bartholomew and Barnabas, as well as Saint Luke, Archbishop of Simferopol (Voino-Yasenetsky). He was not only a spiritual mentor but also an outstanding physician whose work encompassed both the body and the soul of the person. His example remains relevant today.

June 14: Feast of All Saints of the Ukrainian Land

On the second Sunday after Pentecost — June 14 — the Church celebrates the Feast of All Saints of the Ukrainian Land. On this day, the Church remembers those who were born and served among the Ukrainian people, becoming for them an example of faith, prayer, and service to God.

June 15: Saint Michael, the First Metropolitan of Kyiv

June 15 is the commemoration of Saint Michael, the first Metropolitan of Kyiv and all Rus'. His name is associated with the beginning of Christianity on Ukrainian lands, and his veneration emphasizes the historical continuity of the faith.

June 24: Nativity of St. John the Baptist

June 24 is one of the most significant days in the church calendar: the Nativity of the Honorable and Glorious Prophet, Forerunner, and Baptist of the Lord, John. He was born six months before Christ and was called to prepare people for the coming of the Savior. His life is an example of obedience, wisdom, and service to God.

June 29: Feast of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul

June concludes with the commemoration of the glorious and all-praised chief apostles Peter and Paul — the closest disciples of Jesus Christ. On this day, the Church collectively glorifies their service and faith, which became the foundation of Christianity.

The OCU also reminds the faithful of the importance of personal presence in the temple, the proper veneration of icons, and seeking a blessing from the priest. Online broadcasts, while useful, cannot fully replace active participation in the liturgy.

Furthermore, the OCU press service has explained how to deal with demons and whether one should fear curses — topics that often concern parishioners and require spiritual enlightenment.
