In the night of June 2, the capital of Ukraine was subjected to a large-scale combined strike. As a result of the attack, Kyiv experienced serious power outages, as well as numerous fires and damage to infrastructure.

Scale of the attack and types of weaponry

According to military data, cruise, hypersonic, and ballistic missiles were launched at the city during the night hours. The Air Force of Ukraine reported at 3:43 about a new group of missiles heading towards Kyiv. Additionally, the military warned about the movement of drone groups heading to the capital from the north of the Chernihiv region.

Consequences for infrastructure and the population

The result of the attack was numerous fires in open areas. The fire engulfed both residential and non-residential buildings, as well as warehouses and vehicles. In the Holosiivskyi district, the facades and glazing of a medical facility were damaged. In other parts of the city, the shockwave blew out windows in capital buildings.

Particular attention is paid to the situation with power supply. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed that power outages were recorded in three administrative districts of the city:

  • Podilskyi;
  • Obolonskyi;
  • Sviatoshynskyi.

Number of casualties

As of 3:53, the number of people injured as a result of the attack in the capital has risen to 8. At the moment, there are no official reports of fatalities.

It should be recalled that power supply problems in Ukraine were observed earlier: on May 13, power outages in six oblasts were a consequence of strikes on energy facilities, while in April, bad weather was the cause of outages.
