On Sunday, June 21, a significant part of the temporarily occupied Crimea was left without electricity. The cause of the widespread outages was damage to the power grid following an attack by Ukrainian drones. The authorities of the peninsula have introduced strict power cut schedules and urged the population to conserve resources.

The situation in the region's power system is described as critical. "Krymenergo" confirmed that due to damage to the networks, there was a partial disconnection of consumers in the North-Western, Central, and Southern Coast power districts. Currently, emergency crews are carrying out restoration work.

Which cities are left without power

According to sources, key settlements of the peninsula have fallen into the blackout zone. There is no electricity in the temporarily occupied:

  • Sevastopol;
  • Alushta;
  • Krasnoperekopsk;
  • Arмянск (Arмянск).

Advisor to the so-called "Gauleiter" of Crimea, Oleg Kryuchkov, appealed to residents to limit electricity consumption during the elimination of the accident. In particular, the occupation administration requires turning off air conditioners and disconnecting unnecessary electrical appliances.

Strike targets: logistics and air defense

Power outages were the result of a night operation by the Defense Forces of Ukraine. Strikes were carried out on a number of strategically important targets near the Crimean Bridge and on the territory of the peninsula. According to military information, the strikes hit targets located approximately 300 kilometers from the front line.

As a result of the attacks, the following were hit:

  • Enemy military logistics facilities;
  • Maritime logistics for transporting oil to the Krasnodar region;
  • An oil depot in the temporarily occupied Kerch;
  • Four radar stations that are part of the S-400 surface-to-air missile systems;
  • Two "Pantsir" systems.

Complete ban on fuel sales

Alongside problems with power supply, the occupation authorities have introduced unprecedented restrictions on the fuel market. As of June 21, the sale of fuel and lubricants at all gas stations in the temporarily occupied Crimea is completely suspended.

The ban applies to any form of payment: both cash and non-cash transactions, as well as issuance by coupons. Restrictions apply to both individuals and legal entities. Fuel will now be supplied exclusively to state services ensuring the life support and security of the region.

In addition, Russia has suspended ferry traffic with Crimea after a drone attack on the night of June 21, which significantly complicates logistics and the delivery of resources to the peninsula.
